Why this spot
late 1870s-1980s smelter town and border crossing
Grew around a late 1870s smelter serving the Patagonia Mountain mines; as Luttrell it had about 400 people, five stores, three saloons and a brewery by 1881. A boundary survey split the town in two, and it served valley ranches and a border crossing until it was mostly abandoned by 1986.View source →
