Why this spot

1870s-1960s silver mining town

Settled in the 1870s around silver found by David Harshaw, its Hermosa mine was among Arizona's top producers in 1880, and the population rose and fell with silver prices. The mines closed for good by the 1960s after the town was folded into the Coronado National Forest in 1953.View source →
