Why this spot

1882-1969 timber, iron and moonshine town

Settled in 1882 on timber, iron ore and farming, Golden Pond burned in 1898 and 1936 and was nationally known for moonshine during Prohibition. The federal government bought or condemned the land for Land Between the Lakes, and the last residents left in 1969.View source →
