Why this spot
1922-1957 railroad hotel and resort
Alaska Railroad overnight stop on the Susitna River where a hotel opened in 1923, later with a golf course, suspension bridge and ski area. Fires and a 1946 boiler explosion hit the town and the hotel burned in 1957, killing three; it was never rebuilt.View source →
