Why this spot

1873-1966 salmon cannery and fishing village

Salmon cannery village founded in 1873 by the Cook brothers, worked by Chinese cannery hands and Greek, Yugoslav and Italian gillnetters, with 200 people in 1915. It faded as salmon runs declined; houses were dismantled and the post office closed in 1966.View source →
