Why this spot: 1860 Ordnance Survey town plan era
What turns up: Inland-port and whisky-trade material: stoneware ginger-beer bottles, aerated-water and soda bottles from Perth bottlers, black-glass whisky and ale bottles reflecting the local blending trade, Codd and Hamilton sodas, transfer-printed pot lids and clay pipes along the tidal Tay banks and old harbour.
Access: Gray area.
Under Scots bona vacantia and Treasure Trove ALL finds of any age can be Crown property and MUST be reported to the Treasure Trove Unit at the Crown Office, a stricter regime than England. The tidal Tay foreshore at Perth is Crown Estate Scotland; upstream non-tidal banks are largely private and need the landowner's permission.
