Where: Scotland · Europe · approx. 56.71, -2.47 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1861 Ordnance Survey town plan era

What turns up: Trading and fishing-port refuse: stoneware ginger-beer bottles, aerated-water and soda bottles from Montrose bottlers, black-glass whisky, ale and wine bottles, Codd and Hamilton sodas and clay pipes around the harbour and the tidal edges of the Basin; good intertidal exposure at low water.

Access: Gray area.

Under Scots bona vacantia and Treasure Trove ALL finds of any age can be Crown property and MUST be reported to the Treasure Trove Unit at the Crown Office, a stricter rule than England. The tidal Basin and harbour foreshore are Crown Estate Scotland, so permission is required to search.
