Scotland requires all finds to be reported: any object of any age can belong to the Crown under bona vacantia and Treasure Trove and MUST be reported to the Treasure Trove Unit at the Crown Office, unlike England. The Forth foreshore at Alloa is tidal Crown Estate Scotland, so permission is required before searching or digging.
