Where: North Dakota · approx. 48.15, -103.62 (vicinity only)
Why this spot: 1900s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Missouri River
What turns up: Early-1900s townsite bottles and crockery: crown-top and Hutchinson sodas, embossed medicines, ink and beer bottles, and stoneware near the depot and the Missouri bottomlands; back-lot privies and dumps behind the first business blocks shown on the 1907 sheet.
Access: Gray area.
The Missouri bed below the ordinary high-water mark is state-owned public trust where artifact removal is restricted; townsite uplands and banks are usually private and require permission. State law protects archaeological sites and unmarked burials; the nearby Fort Union and Fort Buford confluence area is especially sensitive and largely federal.
