BOTTLE DIGGING GRAY AREA CONFIRMED

Where: Wyoming · approx. 41.59, -109.2 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1890s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Bitter Creek

What turns up: Refuse pits behind the early Front Street and K Street blocks, coal-camp and Union Pacific mine-tipple debris, saloon and boardinghouse dumps, and scatter along Bitter Creek; beer and soda bottles, mining hardware, and immigrant-district ceramics.

Access: Gray area.

Townsite lots, coal-company ground, and railroad property are private and need the owner's permission; Bitter Creek is a small non-navigable stream without public-trust bed access, and surrounding federal coal and BLM lands are protected by the Archaeological Resources Protection Act for sites over 100 years old.
