Plattsmouth (Platte and Missouri confluence)

BOTTLE DIGGING GRAY AREA CONFIRMED

Where: Nebraska · approx. 41.01, -95.88 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1880s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Missouri River just below the mouth of the Platte River

What turns up: Riverfront and railroad-shop-era dumps from the 1860s onward; expect early sodas, ale and beer bottles, plus Burlington railroad shop-worker household refuse in privies near the bluffs above the landing.

Access: Gray area.

Below the ordinary high-water mark the Missouri bed is state public trust land where removing historic artifacts is restricted; the bluffs and townsite are private and require permission. State law protects archaeological sites and unmarked burials.
