Murray, ID: Coeur d'Alene River placer gold camp

BOTTLE DIGGING GRAY AREA CONFIRMED

Where: Idaho · approx. 47.63, -115.86 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1890s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Prichard Creek (North Fork Coeur d'Alene River tributary)

What turns up: 1880s to 1890s placer gold rush saloon, druggist and mercantile bottles, stoneware and Chinatown ceramics along Prichard Creek and the dredged townsite

Access: Gray area.

Much of the ground around this old mining camp is federal (Forest Service or BLM), where the Archaeological Resources Protection Act bars disturbing sites over 100 years old without a permit. The creek and river beds below the ordinary high water mark are state owned and restricted for artifact removal, and the townsite lots and tailings banks are typically private, so get the landowner's permission before digging.
