Kingston (Tennessee and Clinch Rivers)

BOTTLE DIGGING GRAY AREA CONFIRMED

Where: Tennessee · approx. 35.88, -84.51 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1890s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Tennessee River at the mouth of the Clinch River (now Watts Bar)

What turns up: River-junction banks near the old ferry and landing: hand-blown bottles, stoneware, clay pipes, and ferry and steamboat-era iron; privies behind the old square yield 1890s to 1910s glass.

Access: Gray area.

The Tennessee and Clinch riverbeds below the ordinary high-water mark are state public-trust bottomland restricting artifact removal; banks and lots are private and need permission. Fort Southwest Point and other historic and archaeological sites nearby are legally protected.
