Where: Idaho · approx. 47.54, -116.12 (vicinity only)
Why this spot: 1910s+ Sanborn-mapped town on South Fork Coeur d'Alene River at Milo Creek
What turns up: 1890s to 1910s mining town saloon, druggist and company store bottles and camp refuse along the South Fork Coeur d'Alene River and old smelter ground
Access: Gray area.
Much of the ground around this old mining camp is federal (Forest Service or BLM), where the Archaeological Resources Protection Act bars disturbing sites over 100 years old without a permit. The creek and river beds below the ordinary high water mark are state owned and restricted for artifact removal, and the townsite lots and tailings banks are typically private, so get the landowner's permission before digging.
