Where: Maryland · approx. 39.55, -76.09 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1880s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Mouth of the Susquehanna River at the head of the Chesapeake Bay; ferry, canal, and fishing town.

What turns up: Susquehanna-mouth fishing, ferry, and duck-hunting era debris: stoneware, clay pipes, decoy-shop and household dumps, and embossed local druggist, soda, and beer bottles near the waterfront and old canal basin.

Access: Gray area.

The bed of the lower Susquehanna and the bay head below mean high water is state public-trust bottom where removing historic artifacts is restricted; state law protects submerged archaeological resources and any unmarked burials. Waterfront uplands are private and require permission.
