Why this spot: 1880s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Cumberland River landings a few miles south of the square, fed by local creeks

What turns up: Old river-landing banks on the Cumberland and back-lot privies behind the 1880s square: hand-blown bottles, stoneware jug shards, clay pipes, and intact medicine and whiskey bottles from the 1880s to 1900s.

Access: Gray area.

The Cumberland streambed below the ordinary high-water mark is state public-trust bottomland where artifact removal is restricted; town lots and river landings are private and need permission. Archaeological sites and unmarked burials are protected.
