Where: South Dakota · approx. 44.35, -100.38 (vicinity only)
Why this spot: 1900s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Missouri River west bank at the mouth of the Bad River; old fur-post and Deadwood-trail landing
What turns up: Fur-post, freighting and ferry debris on the flat between the Bad River mouth and the Missouri: cut bone, trade beads, forged hardware, and applied-lip bottle glass in bank cuts and old corral ground.
Access: Gray area.
Both the Missouri and the Bad River beds below the ordinary high-water mark are state public trust with restricted artifact removal; the town flat is private ranch and townsite land needing owner permission, and any fur-post archaeological deposit is protected regardless of who owns the surface.
