Where: Georgia · approx. 31.61, -85.05 (vicinity only)
Why this spot: 1890s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Chattahoochee River
What turns up: Applied-lip and tooled whiskeys, Hutchinson sodas, druggist bottles, and stoneware jugs on the high Chattahoochee bluff and at the steamboat landing below town, where cotton was loaded for the run downriver to Apalachicola.
Access: Gray area.
The Chattahoochee River bed below the ordinary high-water mark is state-owned public-trust land where removing historic artifacts is restricted; the bluff and landing lots are private and need the owner's permission; Georgia law protects archaeological sites and unmarked human burials.
