Why this spot: 1890s+ Sanborn-mapped town on North Canadian River
What turns up: North Canadian bottomland south of town near the old Fort Reno road crossing and privy pits behind the original Bickford and Wade avenue blocks; expect 1890s to 1910s hutch sodas, druggist bottles, military-post-related glass, stoneware shards, and hardware in eroding banks and fill.
Access: Gray area.
The North Canadian River bed below the ordinary high-water mark is state-owned public trust land where artifact removal is restricted. The area lies within former Cheyenne and Arapaho lands, and tribal or allotment land requires separate tribal permission; Fort Reno ground nearby is federal. Townsite uplands are usually private and need the landowner's permission. State law protects archaeological sites and unmarked burials.
