Cloquet St. Louis River Sawmill

BOTTLE DIGGING GRAY AREA CONFIRMED

Where: Minnesota · approx. 46.72, -92.46 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1880s+ Sanborn-mapped town on St. Louis River

What turns up: Lumber-boom and mill debris along the St. Louis River: saloon and brewery bottles, stoneware, and privy-pit glass near the old sawmill districts (note the 1918 fire disturbed much of the surface).

Access: Gray area.

The St. Louis River bed below the ordinary high-water mark is state-owned public trust with restricted artifact removal; the townsite banks and uplands are generally private and need the landowner's permission. Minnesota law protects archaeological sites and unmarked burials.
