Bountiful (Mill Creek on the Great Salt Lake bench)

BOTTLE DIGGING GRAY AREA CONFIRMED

Where: Utah · approx. 40.89, -111.88 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1910s+ Sanborn-mapped town on On the Wasatch bench above the eastern shore of Great Salt Lake, on Mill and Stone creeks draining the mountains

What turns up: Early-1900s townsite refuse: local bottling and druggist glass, cannery and mercantile debris, and creek-bank and back-lot dumps behind the blocks on the 1917 sheet, with older 1880s pioneer material possible on long-held homestead parcels.

Access: Gray area.

The Great Salt Lake bed below the ordinary high-water mark is state public-trust land where taking historic artifacts is restricted, as are the beds of the navigable creeks; town lots are private and need owner permission; nearby federal lakeshore ground falls under the Archaeological Resources Protection Act for sites over 100 years old.
