BOTTLE DIGGING GRAY AREA CONFIRMED

Where: Maryland · approx. 39.51, -76.16 (vicinity only)

Why this spot: 1900s+ Sanborn-mapped town on Upper Chesapeake Bay near Bush River and Swan Creek; rail town beside the tidal flats.

What turns up: Railroad, cannery, and truck-farm debris near the bay flats: stoneware, clay pipes, and embossed early-1900s local druggist, soda, and canning-works bottles near the old depot and packing houses behind the main street.

Access: Gray area.

The beds of Bush River, Swan Creek, and the upper bay below mean high water are state-owned public trust where historic artifact removal is restricted; state law protects submerged archaeological resources, and adjacent military land at the proving ground is entirely off-limits. Town uplands are private and need permission.
