Why this spot

1855-1890s ranching and stage town

Williams Ranch, the oldest community in Mills County, grew from 1855 around springs on Mullin Creek into a town with a hotel, store, school, saloons, a mill and a stage stop on the Austin to Fort Concho road. It was a center of the western cattle trade in 1872 to 1875 and peaked around 250 people in the early 1880s; its post office closed in 1892.View source →
