Why this spot

1868-1930s railroad camp and sheep shipping point

The Union Pacific's first Utah construction camp, where hundreds dug the Echo tunnel in 1868-1869 amid tent saloons and shootings; it then had a roundhouse and meal station. Evanston drew away the railroad work in the 1870s, a sheep ranching revival followed, and the town was abandoned in the 1930s.View source →
