Why this spot

1894-1919 gold, silver and sulfur camp

Most productive camp of the Gunnison Gold Belt, which reached 500 people within a year of its 1894 gold strike and had its own newspaper. Labor disputes, litigation, sulfurous rock and fires ended gold mining by 1906, sulfur mining ran until 1919, and two people remained in 1920.View source →
