Why this spot

1878-1983 steam-era railroad service town

A junction town in Spanish Fork Canyon that serviced Denver and Rio Grande Western steam locomotives, with a five-stall roundhouse, depot and machine shop and about 600 residents around 1917. It faded after the switch to diesel and was destroyed in April 1983 when a landslide dammed the river and flooded the town.View source →
