Why this spot

1899-1907 logging camp and company town

Company town of the Split Rock Lumber Company, where about 350 men cut pine and a 10-mile railroad dumped logs at the river mouth for rafting to Duluth. Logging stopped in 1906 once the timber was gone and the town and railroad were dismantled the next year.View source →
