Why this spot

1920s-1980s oil refinery company town

Pantex and Whittenburg merged in 1938 as Phillips, named for the Phillips Petroleum Company, and peaked at 4,250 people in 1947. After a 1980 refinery explosion the company bought the ranch land under the homes and forced the residents out, and the remaining houses were moved or leveled.View source →
