Why this spot
1872-1893 cotton mill village
A steam-powered cotton mill with 6,000 spindles started in 1886, partly using machinery from a closed Florence mill, and the village grew past 300 people with a church and school. The mill closed in 1893, its machinery went to Florence, and the post office closed the same year.View source →
