Why this spot

1851-1901 Mormon colony and mill site

Lyman Wight's Mormon colonists settled on Hamilton Creek in 1851 and built a three-story mill with a 26-foot water wheel plus flour, grist, lumber and cotton mills and furniture shops. The colony moved on in 1853 after selling to Noah Smithwick, the post office closed for good in 1875, and the mill shut in 1901.View source →
