Why this spot

1910-1950 irrigation colony town

Promoted farm town built by the Pacific Reclamation Company with a hotel, school, depot and amusement hall, and about 700 mostly Mormon settlers. It failed after a lawsuit blocked use of the Bishop Creek water, jackrabbits and drought ruined the wheat, and the company went bankrupt in 1920; it was a ghost town by 1950.View source →
