Why this spot
1886-1890s gold rush camp
Gold camp platted in 1887 after a September 1886 strike west of Fort Collins, with the Ace of Cubs saloon, a hotel, butcher, livery and blacksmith and about 100 miners by late 1887. Little gold proved reachable and the population fell away by 1900; the Forest Service later burned the remaining buildings.View source →
