Why this spot

1874-1939 mining and mill town, first La Plata County seat

Town laid out as Bullion City in 1874 at the mouth of Cunningham Creek, the first La Plata County seat until 1876, later reached by the Silverton Northern in 1896 and kept alive by the Pride of the West and Little Nation mills. It died when the post office closed in 1939, and the rails were pulled in 1942.View source →
