Why this spot

1859-1868 silver rush camp

Boom camp on the west slope of the Black Rock Range, born of the hunt for James Hardin's lost silver find of 1849 on the Applegate-Lassen Trail. Prospectors fled during the 1860 Pyramid Lake war, returned in 1866 with mills and a short-lived post office, but silver could never be recovered reliably and the camp died by 1868.View source →
