Why this spot

1874-1880s Mennonite communal village

Krimmer Mennonite Brethren from Crimea settled Gnadenau in 1874 as a communal village after Russia ended their military exemption. A new railroad founded Hillsboro to the north in 1879, which drew the village away, and no buildings remain.View source →
