Why this spot

1836-1839 Latter Day Saint settlement and county seat

Far West was platted in 1836 as a Latter Day Saint city and Caldwell County seat and became church headquarters in 1838, growing to about 5,000 people. After the 1838 Mormon War the residents were forced to sign over their property and leave Missouri, and the town became a ghost town with many log houses moved away.View source →
