Why this spot

1948-1983 iron-mine company town

Kaiser Steel built this company town at its iron mine to feed the Fontana mill; it reached about 4,000 residents with 400 homes, schools, churches and a shopping center. The mine and mill closed in 1983 after Kaiser phased out the operation, and a later private prison in the old shopping center closed in 2003.View source →
