Why this spot
1870 Julian-area placer rush camp
Tent camp of the first placer rush in the Julian area, founded after A. E. Coleman found gold on Coleman Creek in January 1870; by March it had about 150 men in a dozen tents. Once lode gold was found near Julian and the placers ran out, it was abandoned.View source →
