Why this spot

1922-1950s oil company town

Carter Oil Company built Carter Nine in 1922 as a fenced company town of 50 houses for refinery workers, which grew to about 300 homes with a school, post office, store, service station and naphtha plant. The refinery closed in 1945 and the town was abandoned in the 1950s.View source →
