Why this spot
1888-1936 railroad station town
Platted in 1888 as a 16-block town around an Illinois Central station, Bruce had a hotel, saloon, stores and a blacksmith in its first year. Most businesses moved to Hills after a rival railroad bypassed it in 1890; the post office lasted to 1936 and the last buildings came down in the early 1970s.View source →
