Why this spot

colonial era to 1890 stage stop and supper stand

A settlement on the Old Pensacola Road between Mobile and Pensacola, shown on maps from 1775, whose log stage stop and supper stand served travelers from at least 1825. A railroad grade reached it in 1861 before the war halted work, residents were evacuated by Confederate forces, and the settlement later gave way to Hamilton and Gateswood.View source →
