Why this spot

1906-1950s planned seaside resort

Planned resort on Tillamook Spit founded in 1906, billed as an Atlantic City of the West, with a hotel, natatorium, theater and about 2,000 people by 1914. Erosion after jetty building ate the town; the post office closed in 1953 and the last building fell into the ocean in 1971.View source →
