Why this spot

1913-1940s railroad station hamlet

Bankersmith began in 1913 as a station on the San Antonio, Fredericksburg and Northern Railway, named for the Fredericksburg banker who financed the line, and reached about 50 people in the 1920s with a small business district. The railroad abandoned the line in the early 1940s and the town emptied, though a few residents stayed into the 1960s.View source →
