Where: India & Indian Ocean · Asia · approx. 24.72, 80.19 (vicinity only)
Why this spot: Rockhounding locality: India's only working diamond field, mined since the Middle Ages, with NMDC's Majhgawan pipe plus a genuine government system leasing shallow gravel plots to local diggers
What turns up: diamond (rare), quartz gravels; realistic visit = lease-field visits with local diggers and the diamond office
Access: Licensed / permit.
Digging requires an annual shallow-mining lease from the Panna district diamond office, issued to individuals for small plots; found diamonds must be surrendered to the diamond office and are sold at the January auction with proceeds to the finder minus royalty. NMDC's mine itself is off limits
