Where: Southern Europe · Europe · approx. 37.51, 13.68 (vicinity only)
Why this spot: One of Europe's largest sulfur mines and the last big Sicilian solfara to close (1988), heart of the Agrigento sulfur district
What turns up: native sulfur crystals, celestine, gypsum, aragonite from district spoil
Access: Gray area.
The fenced mine-museum complex is protected industrial heritage (regional law, currently closed to visits) and is off limits; picking through older weathered spoil in the surrounding district sits in an unregulated gray zone, so keep to loose surface material and ask locally
